PVC Transparent Pipe Fittings

PVC Transparent Pipe Fittings Manufacturer in India, it is the most frequently specified of all thermoplastic piping materials. It has been used successfully for over 60 years. PVC is characterized by distinctive physical properties, and is resistant to corrosion.

Important details about PVC Transparent Pipe fittings manufacturing with acids, alkalis, salt solutions and many other chemicals. It is attacked, however, by polar solvents such as ketones and aromatics.

The benefits of rigid PVC Transparent piping are well documented including: lightweight, flexibility, durability, and exceptional corrosion resistance. Clear-Guard TM possesses these benefits with the addition of clarity. Our Clear-Guard provides 360° visibility for several applications including dual-containment, industrial piping system, and site glass applications.

Handling & Installation Procedures

PVC Transparent Pipe Fittings are widely used in fluid transport systems where visibility, chemical resistance, and easy monitoring of the flow are essential. These fittings are particularly valuable in laboratory setups, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical pipelines, and chemical transfer systems. While the material offers clarity and strength, it requires specific handling and installation procedures to ensure safety, longevity, and optimal performance. We will cover the best practices for handling, cutting, joining, and installing PVC transparent pipe fittings for industrial and commercial use.

Handling Guidelines

1. Inspect on Arrival

• Upon delivery, check all fittings for cracks, scratches, or defects.
• Confirm transparency is intact and that no contaminants are present.

2. Storage Recommendations

• Store in a cool, shaded, and dry place to prevent UV degradation.
• Do not stack heavy materials over the fittings to avoid deformation or scratches.
• Keep away from direct sunlight to preserve optical clarity.

Precautions During Handling

• Wear gloves to prevent oils or fingerprints from clouding the pipe’s clarity.
• Avoid dropping or dragging fittings, as they can crack or scratch easily.
• Use clean, padded surfaces during assembly or staging.

Cutting Transparent PVC Pipes

  1. Use Appropriate Tools

    • Use a fine-toothed saw, PVC cutter, or miter box for straight and clean cuts.
    • Avoid using dull blades that might cause splintering.

    Ensure Square Cuts

    • Always cut at 90° to ensure a perfect fit between the pipe and fitting.

    Deburring and Cleaning

    • After cutting, use a deburring tool or file to smooth the pipe edges.
    • Clean both the pipe and the fitting socket with a lint-free cloth and PVC cleaner to remove dust, oils, or plastic shavings.

Solvent Cementing Process

  1. Transparent PVC pipe fittings are typically joined using solvent cement welding. Follow the process below for a secure, leak-proof bond:

    Preparation

    • Choose the correct clear PVC solvent cement compatible with transparent materials.
    • Ensure that both the pipe and the fitting are dry and clean.

    Primer Application (if required)

    • For certain systems, apply a PVC primer to soften the joint area.
    • Check manufacturer guidelines for the use of primer on transparent PVC.

    Apply Solvent Cement

    • Apply a thin, even layer of cement to both the pipe and the fitting socket.
    • Do not apply excessive cement, as it can reduce clarity or block internal flow.

    Assembly

    • Immediately insert the pipe into the fitting with a twisting motion (about 1/4 turn) to evenly distribute the cement.
    • Hold in place for 30 seconds to allow initial bonding.

    Curing Time

    • Let the joint cure for at least 15–30 minutes before handling.
    • Allow 24 hours before pressure testing, or more depending on temperature and humidity.

Joint Cure Schedule

* The figures in the table are estimates based on laboratory tests for water applications (chemical applications may
require different set times). In damp or humid weather allow 50% more cure time (relative humidity over 60%).
Note 1: Due to the many variables in the field, these figures should be used as a general guideline only.
Note 2: Joint cure schedule is the necessary time needed before pressurizing the system.

Compatibility & Pressure Rating

IPEX Clear-Guard Clear PVC pipe is produced from a rigid, virgin Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
compound with a Cell Classification of 15334 per ASTM D1784. This material also enables Clear-Guard Clear PVC piping to carry a maximum service temperature of 140o F when appropriate temperature/pressure de-rating
factors are applied. As with our Xirtec140 PVC piping system our pressure ratings are dependent on the pipe diameter and the operating temperature of the system. As temperatures increase, the pressure rating of the system decreases. Refer to the table for de-rating
factors on our Clear-Guard pressure ratings. This material is compatible with Xirtec140 PVC pipe fittings and valves, and can be joined into existing PVC systems using the appropriate solvent cement
joining process

Joining Techniques

IPEX Clear-Guard Clear PVC pipe manufacturer is easily joined by the solvent cementing process, providing a quick, strong, leak-tight seal for pressure applications.

To maintain the system’s clarity, IPEX recommends the use of a clear, mediumbodied, fast-setting cement in conjunction with a clear primer for optimum joint integrity.

As an added advantage due to the product’s transparency, joint integrity is readily identified during the solvent cement joining process. PVC Pipe Manufacturer- Details on proper solvent cementing techniques are available and must be reviewed for proper assembly and joint integrity.
