PVDF is a thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymer. The degree of crystallinity varies between 35 and 70% based on the preparation method. It is unique that it has a blend of electrical and mechanical attributes (i.e., piezoelectricity), handles high purity standards, and is resistant to most chemicals.
That includes solvents, acids, and hydrocarbons. Hence, it is suitable to use in Oman.

PVDF items have the chemical formula (CH2=CF2)n, which is positioned between polyethene (PE: (CH2=CH2)n) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE: (CF2=CF2)n). It has a simple chemical structure, the flexibility of PE, and a few of the stereochemical constraints of PTFE.
PVDF’s molecular and crystal formation change depending on how the samples are prepared.

Crystal Structure of PVDF

It is, as previously stated, a semi-crystalline polymer that is 50% amorphous. The structure is designed so that most PVDF units are connected from head to tail, with only a few units linked from head to head.
The fluoropolymer is available in four different conformations and shapes. Due to the oblique nature of the C-F bonds, an alignment is formed to obtain the highest dipole movement in the same manner. Because of the piezoelectric properties of the resin, it is the prudent phase.

Dipole motion in the opposite direction of crystallite movement results in zero net polarisation.

Polyvinylidene Fluoride

It is an expensive white, semi-crystalline, and semi-opaque engineering thermoplastic that can be converted by melting. Polyvinylidene fluoride is resistant to heat and chemicals in general. It is resistant to abrasion and radiation. Furthermore, it has high dielectric losses, slightly more rigid and stronger than most (melt-processable) fluoropolymers.


The maximum tensile strength of all utilisable fluorocarbons is Polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF). It is radiation resistant (better than other fluorocarbons), melts processable, and is abrasion resistant.

The maximum operating temperature is 150°C (300°F). Effective piezoelectric properties.

It is created using free radicals to polymerise the monomer vinylidene difluoride (1,1-difluoroethylene). It happens in the presence of an emulsion. Temperatures of PVDF Plastic ranged from 10 to 150 °C, and pressures ranged from 10 atm to 300 atm at the time.

Spin coating:

PVDF Pipe in Oman

Polyvinylidene fluoride is a fluorocarbon with a high molecular weight. PVDF pipe has abrasion resistance, dielectric properties, and unrivalled mechanical strength. These properties are maintained across a temperature range of -40º F to 250º F, with a limited utilisation range of 302º F.
