UPVC Foot Valve
A UPVC foot valve is a type of non-return valve made from unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC) that is installed at the bottom (foot) of a suction pipe in a pumping system. An UPVC foot valve is a one-way valve fitted at the lower end of a pump’s suction pipe that prevents chemicals from flowing back into the source when the pump is turned off. In a suction lift application, UPVC Foot Valve is located at the end of a pipeline. In addition to serving as a check valve, they also include a strainer attached to the open end of the valve.
The UPVC Foot valve has a spring-assisted check valve with an arrow showing flow direction. Whenever a pump is turned on, the pump column’s tension varies, and the valve opens as a result.Whenever the pump is turned off, the valve responds by shutting once again. As a result, the pump will not lose prime every time it is turned off due to fluid leaking out of the pump column. Will gravity not take over after the pump is switched off and run all the way back into your tank once the pump is shut off.
- Chemical Resistance
- Low Maintenance Requirement
- Low Thermal Conductivity
- Long Service Life
- Easy Installation
- Corrosion Resistance

Benefits of Using UPVC Foot Valve
Corrosion Resistance
UPVC does not rust or corrode, making it ideal for oil & gas applications, borewells, and mildly chemical environments.
Maintains Pump Priming
Prevents backflow when the pump stops, keeping the suction line full of oil and reducing dry-run risk.
Lightweight & Easy Installation
Much lighter than cast iron or brass valves, allowing quick handling and installation.
Low Maintenance
Non-metallic construction reduces scaling and rust formation, leading to longer service intervals.
Cost-Effective
More economical compared to metal foot valves while providing reliable performance.
Chemical Resistance
Suitable for oil, gas treatment, irrigation, and mild chemical handling applications.
Built-in Strainer Protection
Integrated strainer prevents debris, sand, and particles from entering the pump.
Long Service Life
High durability under normal suction pressure conditions.
Smooth Internal Surface
Reduces friction losses and improves flow efficiency.
Non-Toxic & Safe
Suitable for potable chemical systems (as per manufacturer certification).
