Universal Coupling

A universal coupling, often referred to as a universal joint or U-joint, is a mechanical device used to connect two shafts that are not in line with each other while allowing for the transmission of power or torque between them. It is particularly useful in applications where shafts must be able to pivot, flex, or maintain a certain level of misalignment without losing the ability to transmit rotational motion.
