Vespel® rod is a high-performance material. It has high strength but very little resistance to acids, alkalis, and steam. It has excellent wear, impact, and creep resistance.
Vespel® Grade | Application | Composition |
SP-1 | Mechanical and electrical components at high temperatures Seals, valve seats, and insulators | Unfilled. It has the highest strength and elongation, the lowest modulus and thermal conductivity, and the best electrical properties. |
SP-21 | Applications with low friction and wear, whether lubricated or unlubricated. Seals, valve seats, bearings, washers, and seal rings | 15% of the space is filled with graphite. Improves long-term thermal stability and provides increased inherent wear resistance. |
SP-211 | Applications with low friction and wear in moderate temperature and PV environments. Ball Bearings (bushings and washers). | 10% PTFE, 15% graphite. Provides the least amount of static friction. |
SP-3 | Applications for friction and wear in vacuum or inert gases. Bearings, piston rings, and seals are all examples of mechanical components. | MoS2 is 15 percent filled. In dry environments, it has the best wear performance. |
Temperature: continuous up to +288°C (+482°C short term).
Outstanding strength and impact resistance.
Also available: Vespel® Sheet and Vespel® Tube.
