Polycarbonate (PC) Sheet
Polycarbonate sheet (PC) is a strong, impact-resistant thermoplastic with exceptional dimensional stability and durability. It has a wide operating temperature range, is shatterproof, and has exceptional optical clarity (dependent on the grade).
We offer a variety of polycarbonate brands at Petron Thermoplast, each with its own set of benefits. Impex, our basic and most popular grade, is capable of withstanding repeated impact and is over 200 times stronger than glass. Impex is UV protected on all sides (except 1mm and 1.5mm) and can be used as a window or skylight.
It has the greatest operational temperature of any of the polycarbonates in our portfolio, with a B-s1, d0 fire classification according to EN 13501-1 (from 1.5mm to 6mm).
LexanTM is also available from Petron Thermoplast in a variety of grades, each with its unique set of features. As standard, we use Lexan ExellTM D, which is UV-protected on both sides and has exceptional impact resistance. LexanTM F2000 is another popular alternative, and because of its conformity to Indian standards, it is predominantly used as a polycarbonate on trains and rail carriages. Makrolon, which has exceptional weather resistance and long service life in outdoor applications, is also available.
Polycarbonate sheet is widely made into machine guards, social distancing screens, or CNC machining cut into custom shapes and may be machined, shaped, welded, and bonded. At Petron Thermoplast , we provide a plastic fabrication service, which allows us to create components to your exact requirements from dimensional drawings or samples.
Petron Thermoplast Direct sells polycarbonate sheets over the internet. For further information on each grade, please see the links below or use the ‘purchase online’ option above. Rods and tubes made of polycarbonate are also available.
What are the Features of Polycarbonate Sheets?
1. High Impact Resistance
Polycarbonate sheets are incredibly strong and can withstand high impacts, making them nearly unbreakable compared to glass or acrylic sheets.
2. Transparency
Polycarbonate sheets offer excellent optical clarity, with transparency similar to that of glass, but with the added benefit of being much stronger.
3. Lightweight
Despite their strength, polycarbonate sheets are lightweight, making them easy to handle and install compared to traditional materials like glass.
4. UV Protection
Many polycarbonate sheets come with a UV-resistant coating that protects them from yellowing and degradation when exposed to sunlight.
5. Temperature Resistance
Polycarbonate sheets can withstand a wide temperature range without losing their structural integrity, making them suitable for both hot and cold environments.
6. Fire Resistance
Polycarbonate is a fire-retardant material that can meet various fire safety standards, offering added protection in sensitive environments.
7. Ease of Fabrication
Polycarbonate sheets are easy to cut, shape, drill, and bend without cracking, making them highly versatile for custom projects.
8. Insulation Properties
Polycarbonate sheets offer excellent thermal insulation, especially multiwall sheets that trap air between layers, improving energy efficiency.
9. Weather Resistance
Polycarbonate sheets can withstand harsh weather conditions, including rain, hail, and wind, without breaking or deteriorating.
10. Non-Toxic and Environmentally Friendly
Polycarbonate is non-toxic and can be recycled, making it an environmentally conscious choice for manufacturers and consumers.
