Description
PVC rod or unplasticised polyvinyl chloride is a rigid engineering plastic with high mechanical strength, excellent chemical resistance, and low moisture absorption. It is highly corrosion resistant and simple to machine, fabricate, weld, and bond. It is a good electrical insulator and has a flammability rating of UL94 V-0, which means it will self-extinguish after the flame is removed. PVC rod is also compliant with European Directive drinking water legislation 98/83/EC and is safe to use with clean water.
Polyvinyl chloride is frequently converted into electrical components such as valve bodies, bearing cages, bell mounts, chemical apparatus, linings, gaskets, and insulators. Petron Thermoplast can turn PVC rods into a wide variety of finished products using our in-house CNC machinery. Visit our plastic machining section to learn more about our manufacturing capabilities. View our bell mounts case study to see how we successfully replicated OEM parts for use in the water processing industry.
Applications
- Bearing cages, bell mounts, chemical apparatus, gaskets, valve bodies, and insulators for electrical applications are all common uses for this material. Plastic is widely used in the water and wastewater industries
