TPE Materials (Thermoplastic Elastomer)
Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) sheet that is fatigue resistant, flexible, opaque, and lightweight. TPE is a fatigue-resistant sheet made of a rubber and polypropylene blend. TPE is more heat resistant than polypropylene because of its rubber component, thus it must be heated to a higher temperature for thermoforming.
To avoid warping and distortion, consistent cooling is essential after formation. TPE is more flexible than polypropylene or co-polymer, but it is stiffer than LDPE. AFOs, spinal orthoses, scoliosis jackets, and body jackets are all made of TPE Materials. It should be kept in a cool, dry place in a polyethylene bag or with the polyethylene masking still attached.
TPE IS WIDELY USED FOR:
- AFOs
- Spinal orthoses
- Scoliosis jackets
- Body jackets
